Kieran Tierney left Celtic in 2019 in order to join Arsenal in a then Scottish record move. Early on in his time in London, he established himself as a key player for the Premier League giants and many were even viewing him as a future captain of the club. It would be safe to say that things have changed a lot since then.
Tierney is no longer an important part of Mikel Arteta's plans. He has slipped down the pecking order due to a combination of injuries and the arrival of other left-backs.
In fact, Tierney spent the previous season out on loan at Real Sociedad. And one would think that he would've left this summer as well if he was not out injured already, having picked up one at the EUROs.
Now, with his future at Arsenal clouded in uncertainty, he is being linked with a return to Celtic Park for the umpteenth time. Will it actually materialise this time around?
Sky Sports drop blockbuster Kieran Tierney to Celtic news
As tweeted by Sky Sports Football, Celtic are considering a move for Tierney next month. His contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
Let's see how things play out in the Tierney transfer saga over the coming months. It does feel like he does not have much of a future at Arsenal and an exit is inevitable.
But would he be ready to make a return to Scotland in the prime years of his career? Or would he prefer to remain in the Premier League?
Of course, Celtic have to be completely certain about a move as well. Tierney would immediately be one of their best players for sure. But at the same time, his injury record means that any move would come with a risk.
