Celtic fans are starting to get impatient as the club struggles to get deals over the line and complete some signings, despite reportedly making failed bids for multiple players recently. On the other hand, their current crop of players continues to be linked with moves away. Tha latest is a defender, who is drawing interest from England.

We have already seen two Celtic centre-backs this summer already. Gustaf Lagerbielke headed to SC Braga on a permanent basis. On the other hand, Maik Nawrocki joined Hannover 96 on loan, although there is believed to be a buyout option in that deal as well.

Now, Stephen Welsh is being linked with a move away. Earlier in the summer, it was believed that KV Mechelen wanted to sign him permanently but that did not materialise. Now, England appear to be his most likely destination and a loan offer is even on the table.

As reported by Sky Sports, Plymouth Argyle have made a loan offer for Welsh. Celtic are considering it as well.

Plymouth Argyle are currently in League One of English football. Is that the level that Welsh needs to be playing at at this point in his career? That is a question that needs to be asked.

He does have a couple of years left on his contract at Parkhead. So, Celtic do need to find a permanent solution as soon as possible. Because it is very clear that he does not have much of a future in Brendan Rodgers' side.

Welsh broke into the first-team picture in the 20/21 campaign. But since then, he has been a backup option at best, sometimes even not that. So, leaving the club on a permanent basis might be the right step for him although he needs to choose his destination carefully.
