Coming into the window, it was pretty clear that Celtic were looking to add a couple of strikers to their ranks. They have been successful in bringing one so far in the form of Tomas Cvancara, who has arrived on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach for the rest of the season with an option to buy. Who will be the second, if there indeed turns out to be another?

We have seen Celtic being linked with David Datro Fofana of Chelsea for some time, but then, those rumours have gone cold in recent days, suggesting a move might no longer be on the cards. Earlier in the day, there were claims that the Hoops had opened talks with Noah for Nardin Mulahusejnovic.

Now, another striker is being linked with Celtic. After signing Cvancara, it looks like they want to bring in another forward struggling to make his mark in the Bundesliga.

As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic are working on a deal for SC Freiburg forward Junior Adamu. It’s understood discussions are centred around a loan deal for the Austria international. He is believed to be waiting for the green light to travel to the UK.

A couple of other clubs are believed to be keeping an eye on the situation of Adamu as well. But judging from this report, it feels like Celtic are the favourites to land the SC Freiburg forward on loan.

His goalscoring record will not fill the fans with confidence though. This season, he has only scored twice in 18 games. Overall, he has just 7 goals in 67 appearances for SC Freiburg.

His record at RB Salzburg was a bit better, as he scored 23 times in 84 games, alongside providing 11 assists. But all things considered, Celtic fans will be left wondering if he is the solution to the Hoops' woes in front of the net.

What Celtic need right now is someone who will finish off the chances that are being created. Also, one cannot ignore the fact that we have seen them 'hold talks', 'explore' and 'work on deals' plenty of times without it leading to anywhere of substance. So, until and unless this situation gets a lot more advanced, do not hold your breath over the club signing the Austrian international.
