With merely days left in the winter transfer window, Celtic have left themselves with a lot of work to do. It remains to be seen whether the club are capable of pulling off the deals that they need to in such a short span of time. History would suggest otherwise but let's just hope that we are surprised by the board this time around.
The club have been linked with a variety of players this winter, and by credible sources, but most of those rumours have led to nowhere of substance. Now, a new name has cropped up in the rumour mill.
As reported by Sky Sports, Celtic are in talks to sign Frosinone winger Fares Ghedjemis. The Frenchman is out of contract in the summer, but the Italian side have the option to extend by a further year.
It looks like the club might be open to the prospect of him leaving this winter. That is because the report goes on to add that Frosinone are already pursuing a replacement in Mantua's Davide Bragantini.
Sky Sports confirm Celtic are in talks to sign French winger
For a while, it had been suggested that Celtic were looking to strengthen on the flanks. A large part of that might be down to the poor performances of Michel-Ange Balikwisha and the inconsistent form of Sebastian Tounekti, there two winger signings from the summer.
Fortunately, Yang Hyun-jun has emerged as one of Celtic's standout players in recent times. That has at least given the Hoops some breathing space in the absence of Jota, who might not play again this season.
Ghedjemis has been a standout player for his club. But one cannot overlook the fact that he plays in the second division of Italian football and that might not translate to life at Celtic.
