At the moment, Celtic's defence is in a terrible state due to injuries and they need to bring in reinforcements in January. Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston have both undergone surgeries recently and will be out of action for the foreseeable future. Colby Donovan also suffered an injury during this international break and it remains to be seen what the extent of the ankle issue is.

So, Celtic could do with players at centre-back and right-back. And interestingly, they have been linked with a Chelsea defender capable of playing in both those positions.

As reported by 67 Hail Hail recently, Celtic had been ‘made aware’ of three Chelsea players’ availability ahead of the winter transfer window. That includes Axel Disasi.

The French international has trained away from the first-team this season after failing to secure a move away from Chelsea in the summer. Someone of his experience and leadership quality could be a solid addition to Celtic, if a move were feasible. But his situation has taken a U-turn out of the blue.

As reported by Sky Sports, Kaveh Solhekol reports that Disasi is to be reintegrated into the Chelsea first team. This is due to their lack of cover at centre-half because of injuries.

Of course, it is no secret that Chelsea have had plenty of injury problems at the moment as well. The most impactful of them has been the absence of Levi Colwill, but they have several others missing as well.

To be honest, it is a bit of a surprise that it has taken this long for the club to make this decision and bring Disasi back into the fold. Of course, it decrease Celtic's chances of finding a move for him in the upcoming transfer window.
