Six players ruled out of Celtic vs Atalanta match
Celtic need a good result against Atalanta to raise the mood around Parkhead once again. The Hoops have had some underwhelming results in recent games. There is not much left to say about the 7-1 loss at the hands of Borussia Dortmund. Then there was the draw against Aberdeen at the weekend. Brendan Rodgers' side were cruising 2-0 at half-time but could not protect that lead.
Defence is looking like a problem for Celtic in the absence of Cameron Carter-Vickers. And unfortunately, he won't be back in time for the game against Atalanta although his return to action is not far away. The American has not made the trip to Italy.
Carter-Vickers won't be the only defender Celtic are missing though. Greg Taylor is not going to feature against Atalanta as well and he is not even back in training yet.
Celtic are not the only ones dealing with injury problems heading into the game though. Atalanta look set to be without their fair share of players as well.
Six players ruled out of Celtic vs Atalanta match
As reported by Glasgow World, Rafael Toloi and Odilon Kossounou are on the sidelines, along with Marco Brescianini and Giorgio Scalvini. Gianluca Scamacca is a major doubt as well. Also, Sead Kolasinac has been suffering from the flu and faces a race against time to be available.
So, it looks like a combined six players have been pretty much ruled out of the game between Celtic and Atalanta. A few are doubtful as well. Neither team will be fielding their best XI on the day.
It will be very interesting to see what kind of adjustments Celtic make at the back with Carter-Vickers and Taylor absent. Auston Trusty has looked shaky at best since arriving in the summer and Alex Valle has his weaknesses going back as well.
