The fans were left disappointed by Celtic's performance, as they lost 2-0 against SC Braga at home. That leaves them in a bad spot in the Europa League and hurts their chances of making it beyond the first round of the competition. For a team that gave Bayern Munich a run for their money in their own backyard less than a year ago, this is unacceptable yet not completely unexpected when you consider the summer transfer window they had and the early-season displays as well.

Celtic cannot waste any time dwelling on that result though. They are trailing Hearts in the league by two points, and while nobody is considering this a title race at the moment, just look at what Leicester City achieved in the Premier League a decade ago. Nothing is impossible in football.

So, the Hoops need to bring their A-game the next time they take to the pitch. They cannot afford to drop any more points, after the league draw against Hibernian at home last weekend, before the loss at the hands of SC Braga in Europe.

The officials for the game between Celtic and Motherwell have already been confirmed. Calum Scott will be the referee. Calum Spence and Ross Anderson will be his two assistants. VAR duty will go to Gavin Duncan, with Gary Hilland as his assistant.

As we always say, the best games are those which have no controversial decisions in them. The officials should be almost invisible.

Of course, that was not the case in Europe this week, as Celtic came out on the wrong end of a poor decision. Kelechi Iheanacho's goal was chalked despite no real clarity on the supposed handball that VAR saw.

Let's hope there is no such controversy when Celtic take on Motherwell. Nothing but three points will do for the Hoops.
