There has been a ton of negativity surrounding Celtic over the past few weeks, with the club failing to make the Champions League and then ending the summer transfer window on a low note as well, sanctioning Adam Idah's deadline day exit and then failing to secure the signing of Kasper Dolberg. Some actual football will be a nice change and we can look forward to that this weekend.

Celtic are set to take on Kilmarnock. It is an away trip to Rugby Park and with the opposition yet to lose in the league this season, this is not a test that the Hoops should take lightly.

Brendan Rodgers will know that his side need a win and a good performance to get some momentum on their side. They cannot allow all the negativity around the lack of ambition from the board end up having an impact on their results.

The SFA have confirmed the officials for the game between Celtic and Kilmarnock this weekend. John Beaton will be the referee. Jonathan Bell and Paul McAvinue will be his two assistants. Matthew MacDermid will be on VAR duty and Ross Hardie will be his assistant on the day.

Of course, there is not much that needs to be said about why Celtic fans are not particularly fond of having Beaton referee the club's matches. But it is something that ends up happening quite often, as he is considered one of the most prominent referees in Scottish football.

One can only hope that refereeing decisions are not a talking point coming out of the game. That is the case for every football match. The result should be completely based on the performances on the pitch.

Celtic will go into this game knowing that they need a win, even this early in the season. Anything other than three points and the negativity around Parkhead will only increase, and that is not a good thing.
