In the two seasons since his return as Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers has won the Premiership title both times and four trophies in total. Also, he guided the Hoops past the opening round of the Champions League for the first time in over a decade, before giving Bayern Munich a run for their money in the knockout phase and drawing 1-1 away at the Allianz Arena.

All of that deserves praise. That being said, one cannot deny the feeling that he has never been able to recapture the magic from his first spell at Parkhead, when the Hoops looked almost unbeatable in domestic competition.

Right now, that is far from the case. We can understand that a lot of people are not taking Hearts' title chances seriously and history does suggest that their form will fade over the course of a 38-game season. Just look at Aberdeen a year ago.

That being said, anything is possible in football. Could Hearts pull off a Leicester City? They won't if Celtic are at their best. They look nowhere near the mark at the moment, putting in a string of underwhelming performances, with the latest coming at home against Motherwell. And while the supporters have given Rodgers a lot of leeway due to the terrible summer transfer window, now, a lot of them might be starting to turn.

'Sack him now' - Celtic fans send clear Brendan Rodgers message

Some fans seem to have given up on Rodgers completely and one wrote during the Motherwell game: "Sack Rodgers & sack him now."

One complaint that many have had with Rodgers is the type of football that Celtic are playing right now. As one fan wrote: "Motherwell play better football than us."

It is not just the fans on social media either. There were boos at half-time at Celtic Park, something that you would associate with Ibrox instead. As John McGinley pointed out: "Boos ringing out at Celtic Park at half-time. Brendan Rodgers' side entirely unconvincing again."

Of course, there is a recognition that Rodgers has not been dealt the best hand. The Celtic board have allowed key players to leave and then not replaced them with quality that is not even close. But at some point, one has to point the finger towards Rodgers as well.

Do Celtic not have enough to put in a convincing performance in the league? We feel like they do, despite of how bad the summer transfer window was.
