Ruben Amorim started his run as Manchester United manager with a 1-1 draw against Ipswich Town. That is not the greatest result in the world considering his opposition are hoping to avoid relegation. And one of his selection decisions might end up having an effect on Celtic, if the recent rumours are indeed accurate.

Christian Eriksen is someone who has been linked with a move to Celtic recently. Particularly back in his homeland.

Eriksen's current contract at Manchester United runs out at the end of the season. Thus, could the club look to part ways with him in January itself, with an extension not expected to come?

Well, Amorim certainly seems to rate Eriksen highly. That is because the Danish midfielder started the manager's debut game at Manchester United and was on the pitch for around 70 minutes before being subbed off.

If Eriksen continues to be a part of Amorim's plans, it is unlikely that Manchester United would entertain the idea of parting ways with him in January. On the contrary, if the Dane gets significant enough playing time, the club might even change their stance on the possibility of handing him an extension.

As for Celtic, the idea of bringing in someone like Eriksen would be exciting. That being said, do they really need him right now?

Celtic are stacked in midfield right now. Callum McGregor and Reo Hatate are pretty much nailed-on starters. We have not yet seen the best of Arne Engels since his record arrival in the summer but hopefully, there is a lot more to come. Paulo Bernardo and Luke McCowan are excellent cover options and capable of slotting into the starting XI on most days. Where would Eriksen fit into all of this, unless there is an exit?
