Real Madrid have one of the best squads in the world. They are the reigning Champions League and La Liga holders with Ballon d'Or contenders like Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham and Dani Carvajal in their ranks. But that did not stop them from bringing in players like Kylian Mbappe and Endrick. Could a former Celtic ace be next on their transfer wishlist?

Despite the unquestionable brilliance of Carvajal, one cannot forget that he is in his 30s. Sooner or later, the club will need to find a replacement for the legendary Spaniard.

As reported by The Athletic, Real Madrid do like Jeremie Frimpong for his attacking enterprise and athleticism. He renewed his contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2028, but the €40million release clause in his deal does mean that he would be an affordable addition.

It is also worth pointing out that Frimpong has developed into a key player for Bayer Leverkusen under the management of Xabi Alonso. Incidentally, the Spaniard is believed to be one of the leading candidates to replace Carlo Ancelotti as Real Madrid boss, when the Italian does leave the club.

Now, why would the Dutchman joining Real Madrid be of help to Celtic? Well, as reported by 67 Hail Hail, the Hoops would be due around 15 per cent on any profit the German side make on a subsequent transfer for Frimpong.

Frimpong is believed to have joined Bayer Leverkusen in early 2021 for a transfer fee in the region of £11.5 million. Thus, Celtic can expect to bring in a decent figure if Real Madrid or any other top club were to meet his release clause.

Of course, Frimpong has been linked with clubs like Real Madrid, Manchester United and several others for years. A Bayer Leverkusen exit has not materialised so far though.
