Celtic turned on the style as they defeated Aberdeen, their closest domestic competition so far this season, by a 6-0 scoreline at Hampden Park to book their place in the Scottish League Cup final. It was a statement performance from Brendan Rodgers' side. But things will only get tougher for them in midweek when they welcome RB Leipzig to Parkhead in the Champions League.

Do not be confused by the fact that RB Leipzig have lost all three of their games in the Champions League this season till now. Those results have come against Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Juventus.

RB Leipzig are still one of the top contenders in the Bundesliga. And Celtic have already suffered a heavy defeat against a German team in the Champions League this season. Nobody wants to witness a repeat.

RB Leipzig seem to be coming into this game with a must-win attitude, as a result of their previous three defeats, and will be treating it like a final. As reported by the Daily Record, Andre Silva said regarding the upcoming Parkhead visit:

"This match against Celtic is like a final for us. We need a victory to stay alive in this competition. With zero or one point from four matches, only a miracle would see us progress to the next stage of the Champions League. We are not a bad team but in the matches so far, luck was absent for us.

“But we must beat Celtic on Tuesday. They have four points already and they’re very strong at home. That’s a warning to us. It won’t be an easy match for us and we’ll need an enormous effort from the first minute to win. But if we can find the same levels we’ve had in previous seasons in the Champions League, we can win in Glasgow.

“Our European future this season depends on it. If we have the right mentality we can win and follow our dream in the Champions League."

Celtic and RB Leipzig met in Europe a couple of seasons back. The German side came out on top on both of those occasions although they were not one-sided contests by any means and the Hoops had their moments.

This is a very different RB Leipzig team and are missing some key players through injury as well. So, Celtic must believe that they can get something out of this game.

The away draw against Atalanta must have restored a lot of their confidence. This is a team capable of getting a result on their day. They will need to be clinical with the chances that do fall their way while also putting in a resolute defensive display throughout the 90 minutes plus added time. Let's see what happens.
