Celtic know that they will have a mountain to climb when they face RB Leipzig in the Champions League in midweek. We all know how things turned out for the Hoops when they took on a different Bundesliga side earlier in the season in Europe. Nobody wants to see a repeat of that result. There are a couple of things that might be working in their favour this time around though.
Firstly, and perhaps most importantly, Celtic will have the home advantage this time around. That can be massive for the Hoops.
In the recent past, we have seen them suffer heavy defeats against Real Madrid and Atletico away but gave them a tough time at Celtic Park. Hopefully, the Parkhead atmosphere makes the difference this time around as well.
Secondly, RB Leipzig seem to be dealing with fitness issues leading up to the game. It looks like Castello Lukeba won't be involved against Celtic in midweek after picking up an injury in training. As reported by the Glasgow Times, Marco Rose said:
"He picked up a thigh injury in training and we don't want to take any risks or else we are talking about five or six weeks out.
"I therefore don't think it's very likely that he will play against Celtic."
RB Leipzig manager confirms major blow for Celtic game
RB Leipzig have lost all three of their games in the Champions League so far this season. But they have come against extremely tough opposition. So, Celtic cannot afford to think that the German club are out of form.
They are not and are competing near the top of the Bundesliga table. They were handed another blow at the weekend though as they saw their unbeaten start to the domestic season come to an end after losing to Borussia Dortmund.
All things considered, this is going to be a tough game for Celtic for sure. But at the same time, they should be confident that they have enough ability to get a result against the visitors, especially after going away from home and getting a goalless draw against Atalanta.
