Celtic will need to bring their A-game to Parkhead if they are to get a result against RB Leipzig when the two teams meet on matchday four of the Champions League. The visitors might be competing in the Bundesliga title race, but they have lost all three of their games in Europe so far. That will only make them even more intent to win in Glasgow.

Celtic have met RB Leipzig in the past. A couple of years back, both were placed in the same Champions League group.

Unfortunately, on that occasion, Celtic lost both times. This is a very different RB Leipzig team though and with the home crowd behind them, the Hoops have the ability to get something out of this game even though they will be the underdogs.

RB Leipzig manager, Marco Rose, recognises the part the Parkhead atmosphere could play and even shared an anecdote about a connection he has with Celtic fans. As reported by Football Scotland, he said:

"The fans mean you need to be ready if you want to win here.

"It will be a great atmosphere and we have to use it because we like to play in these kinds of stadiums. We will have to defend all they give us to defend as well. But I'm sure we'll get our chances in possession and transition and when we do we have to take these chances. I always like coming here, I like the history of the club, I appreciate fan culture a lot.

"I remember my first match here with Salzburg in the Europa League very well, we played very well and the supporters accepted and honoured the result. I actually had some contact with a few supporters, they offered me a scarf. This creates a connection. And I also like their manager."

Celtic will also know that they need to make the most of the atmosphere if they are to get a result against an opposition like RB Leipzig. The good news is, they seem to have done well at home in recent years.

Last season, they drew 2-2 against Atletico Madrid at Celtic Park. The year before that, they gave a lot of problems to Real Madrid and were even the better team in the first half.

Of course, there is not much point dwelling on past results but we know that on their day, this team can deliver even against top teams. Their goalless away draw against Atalanta should give them a lot of confidence as well, as would the 6-0 win over Aberdeen at the weekend.
