Celtic are no strangers to iconic rappers supporting the club. Of course, the first name that comes to mind is that of Snoop Dogg. The legendary artist, arguably the most famous rapper ever, is believed to have had a soft spot for the Hoops for a long time and even showed some interest in investing in the club at some point if the opportunity presented itself.
Now, it looks like another iconic rap figure has taken a liking to Celtic. It is none other than 50 Cent, one of the best selling artists of this century.
50 Cent was recently announced as one of the headline acts for next year's TRNSMT Festival. And it looks like he plans to attend a Celtic game at some point.
50 Cent's interest in Celtic seems to be as a result of his friendship with Gerald Butler, the Hollywood star known for his love of the Hoops. The two starred together in the film Den ofThieves and the rapper had a few fantastic anecdotes about his co-star.
Rap legend 50 Cent makes fantastic Celtic claim
As reported by The Scottish Sun, 50 Cent said while talking to the Daily Record:
"Man, Gerard is crazy about Celtic. I don't think I have ever met somebody more in love with their team.
"We are going to watch a Celtic game together. That guy won't miss a game even when he is shooting. He must go up another level when he is actually at the stadium.
"When we were filming Den of Thieves, Gerard would not miss a single second.
"If I went to watch a game in Scotland it would have to be Celtic.
"He would never forgive me if I went to watch anybody else."
It is great to hear of Butler's love for Celtic. While it is known that he supports the club, 50 Cent's comments do give a peek into the extent of his fandom. He is clearly flying the green-and-white flag high in Hollywood.
Of course, it would be wonderful to see 50 Cent in attendance at Parkhead at some point. Hopefully, the timing will work out for the rapper.
On the pitch, Celtic fans have a lot to look forward to as well. They will make the trip to face Dinamo Zagreb next before taking on the Rangers in the Scottish League Cup final next weekend.
