Over the last few days, all the talk has been about the issues at Celtic and the unhappiness of the fans with the board and how things were handled over the summer transfer window. It is understandable. That being said, things do not seem much brighter at Ibrox despite it being the start of a new era with new American investors and a new manager in Russell Martin.
Celtic have been nowhere near their best this season and are significantly weaker after the close of the transfer window. But despite that, they remain six points ahead of the Rangers in the title race.
Not just that, the Rangers are yet to win a game in the league. So far, they have drawn all four. It is safe to say that even the most pessimistic of their supporters would have expected a better start than that.
Naturally, questions have been raised about Martin's future and a potential sacking just months into his run at Ibrox. And it looks like that is not out of the question.
Rangers make Russell Martin sack decision despite Celtic draw
As reported by Football Insider, Rangers are preparing to sack Martin this month despite Kevin Thelwell’s public show of support for the manager. Sources close to the Ibrox club's board say there is a growing expectation that he will be gone by the end of September and only a major turnaround in results and performances will be able to keep him in his role.
Of course, Celtic have a lot bigger things to worry about than the future of Martin right now, considering the mood around Parkhead at the moment. That being said, fans will always have an eye on what is going on at Ibrox.
Let's see if the report turns out to be accurate or not. If it is, then Martin might be headed for the Ibrox exit door.
