It is not rare for Celtic and the Rangers to be linked with the same player. In fact, it happens quite often. At times, it is because both clubs are indeed interested in one talent. But then, there are also occasions when it is just lazy journalism. It is pretty difficult to figure out which is which, considering the sheer number of names that the two Glasgow giants seem to have on their radar every time a transfer window comes around.
In the summer, the Rangers added a lot of players. But they have not been able to take a step forward despite splashing out.
On the other hand, Celtic had a poor summer window. And they will have to make sure that they strengthen Wilfried Nancy's squad in the winter.
Interestingly, it looks like one Celtic-linked player is also on the radar of the Rangers. Not only that, it appears that the Ibrox club have started talks over a potential move as well, although it will be very complicated to pull off.
Rangers open talks to sign Celtic-linked midfielder
The player in question is Pierre Ekwah. Now, as reported by Sport (via Daily Record), both Rangers and Udinese have "initiated negotiations" with the player.
Signing Ekwah won't be an easy task though. It is believed that he is currently refusing to play for his own club, St Etienne of the French second division. Will they sanction an exit as soon as possible or will this saga drag on for a while? Either could happen as things stand.
It will be very interesting to see if Celtic do end up entering the race for the player as well. It had been reported in the past that they wanted to bring the midfielder to Parkhead but those rumours have gone quiet.
