Rangers legend Ian Durrant believes Celtic still have the advantage in the Premiership title race despite an Old Firm defeat.
Celtic have fallen short of their rivals in back-to-back Old Firms in the space of just a week, putting in two flat performances to lose 3-0 in the Premier Sports Cup at Ibrox and then 1-0 at Celtic Park in the league.
The latter saw Celtic's lead at the top of the Premiership cut to just two points, and given how much better Rangers looked in those games, there is obvious concern that a leapfrog might be coming.
There is serious worry around Celtic that this slide cannot be arrested, and while the club is backing Martin O'Neill, there is no guarantee he sees out this season, already hinting that he could walk away if he feels as though he cannot fix the current problems.
Celtic have a major gap in the midfield that they know they cannot fix until January, so O'Neill and Co are going to have to get creative.
But while there is real worry at Celtic, Rangers, who many will expect to be feeling pretty confident, know they still have a lot of work to do if they want to win the title having routinely fallen short in recent years, often struggling with their end to the season.
And Rangers legend Durrant believes Celtic do still have the advantage despite the Old Firm defeats. He told PLZ: "It’s good just now, but there are a lot of tough games ahead.
"You’ve got to go to Tynecastle, which has not been really good for us in the last few years. We’ve been to Aberdeen, we’ve been to Celtic, massive games. A couple of weeks ago, they had a few major injuries, but now they seem to have gotten over that and the boys, Kevin Kelsy and Ryan Naderi, have turned up, and they’re doing a man’s job.
“We’re still chasing Celtic. As I said, they’re the team to beat. Rangers have not got that experience just now. Rangers are playing well just now, but Celtic have got that experience, players that have been over the course.”
