The Russell Martin era is not off to the start that Rangers fans would have been hoping for. There has been a lot of negativity around Celtic in the first few weeks of the season. And admittedly, their performances have left a lot to be desired. But Brendan Rodgers' side have won both their games to pick up all six points. The same cannot be said about the team from Ibrox.

Celtic's latest win was an important one as well. They got themselves a 2-0 victory away at the Pittodrie Stadium against Aberdeen. Benjamin Nygren scored and assisted, proving to be the standout performer on the day. Reo Hatate also scored a brilliant goal from outside the box.

The result means that Celtic are already four points clear of the Rangers in the title race. Yesterday, Martin's side had only managed a 1-1 draw at Ibrox against Dundee and even that needed a late penalty.

Let's just say that their fans are not delighted at the moment with how things are going in the league. One wrote: "4 points behind after 2 games. If I don’t laugh…"

Of course, it is important not to get too far ahead of ourselves. There is a ton of football left to be played this season. It does not take a long time for a lead to evaporate if your team finds themselves in the middle of a bad run of form.

That being said, the Glasgow teams rarely drop points. At least, that is what generally happens. So, a four-point lead is significant. And it looks like some Rangers fans are already giving up on this campaign. One said: "It’s just not any better than last season another experiment that’s not going to work with looks of it."

Well, let's wait and watch how things play out for both teams over the coming weeks. A derby is not far away. But at the moment, Celtic have a lot more to be happy about than their Glasgow rivals, that is for sure.
