We saw a number of players who left Celtic in the recent winter transfer window. The activity in terms of outgoings was a lot more than anybody could have predicted. There are some players who could still be on their way out in the summer though. One such player is Daniel Cummings, the in-form B Team standout who is in the final six months of his current deal.

It is believed that West Ham United had submitted a couple of late transfer bids to sign Cummings in the winter. But having seen Kyogo leave, Celtic were seemingly not ready to sanction the exit of another striker in the middle of the season.

It is not hard to see why. Cummings has barely played this season but if Adam Idah or Johnny Kenny pick up an injury, he could be an option for Brendan Rodgers to consider.

As reported by ExWHUEmployee (via The West Ham Way), West Ham United are currently in pole position to sign Cummings from Celtic at the end of the season.

So, Cummings looks set to join a long list of highly-rated Celtic academy graduates who have left without making a proper impact at the senior level. Names like Ben Doak, Rocco Vata and Daniel Kelly come to mind immediately.

It is not hard to see why that has been the case. There has barely been a pathway from the academy and B Team ranks to the senior side.

The pressure is on Celtic to win pretty much every game. So, it has become very difficult for managers to give chances to youngsters.

The last player to make that jump and become a starter for Celtic was Kieran Tierney. He will make a return next summer after six seasons at Arsenal.
