Most of the recent headlines surrounding Celtic have been about players that the club could potentially sign, particularly goalkeepers, with Joe Hart set to retire after the Scottish Cup final this weekend. But on the other hand, there are those who could be headed out of Parkhead in the summer transfer window as well.

Brendan Rodgers will surely be keen to strengthen his squad over the summer. But unfortunately, the future of Celtic's best player right now is in doubt.

That player is none other than Matt O'Riley, who has enjoyed a tremendous season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 19 goals and provided 18 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

Atletico Madrid already made a failed attempt to sign O'Riley in the summer. And more clubs are expected to try to do the summer this summer, with one of them being West Ham United.

As reported by Football Insider, West Ham United are ready to go head-to-head with Atletico Madrid for O'Riley. Brighton & Hove Albion and Everton are also believed to be keen on the Celtic playmaker.

It would not come as a surprise if it takes a Scottish record fee to convince Celtic to part ways with O'Riley in the summer. There has been some speculation that the club might want him to stay for another season, with Champions League football secured. It was not too long ago that the Danish international signed a contract extension with the Hoops.

It remains to be seen how things play out. To be honest, it feels likely that O'Riley will depart in the summer. There are just far too many clubs seemingly interested in him and it is very possible that a transfer bid might arrive on Celtic's table that they simply cannot turn down.
