Transfer business started slow at Celtic this summer but it is starting to pick up pace now with a key position between the posts now filled. Kasper Schmeichel has been brought in to replace Joe Hart and Viljami Sinisalo is expected to be his cover. There are still other gaps that need to be addressed and fans are hoping to see more signings being made soon.

As always there are plenty of rumours of players Celtic are interested in. A permanent deal for Paulo Bernardo seems as good as done. The rumour involving Dara O’Shea of Burnley is picking up pace as well.

There is also some speculation of West Ham United's Maxwel Cornet attracting interest from Celtic. And he could potentially be a great acquisition for the club.

Cornet signed for West Ham United from Burnley back in 2022 for a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £17 million. But he isn’t getting much game time there. He made only one start in the Premier League last season and unsurprisingly, he is being tipped to leave this summer.

Cornet could solve a few problems for Brendan Rodgers. The player has featured at left-back when with Lyon. He has also played on both wings, had games playing as a centre forward and all across the midfield. Overall, he made more than 250 appearances and scored over 50 goals for the French giants. Those numbers indicate plenty of experience and ability in front of goal.

Cornet is pretty versatile and offers plenty of cover and options for changes during a match. That could suit the Hoops perfectly, considering their lack of depth in more than one position. Also, at 27 years of age, he is entering his prime.

As always the difficulty might be surrounding transfer fees and wages. Cornet has been playing in the Premier League for the past three years and spent more than six seasons at Lyon before that. One would expect him to have a high-paying contract.
