Celtic and the Rangers played out a 3-3 draw at Ibrox. Coming out of the game, there are reasons for both sides to be disappointed and satisfied at the same time. The Hoops might have let their lead slip not once but twice but the title race is still in their hands, which would have been the goal going into the match. On the other hand, Philippe Clement's team could not take advantage of their home derby again but at least they were able to salvage something out of it through a late equaliser.

VAR was heavily involved on the day. Both teams were handed a penalty each. And it is safe to say that the Rangers' one was the controversial one.

Most Celtic fans believe that it was a simulation but a penalty was awarded to them. It proved to be the turning point of the match. Until then, the Hoops were pretty much cruising their way to a victory.

Clement appeared to view the two penalty decisions in different ways though. And Neil Lennon was having none of it.

'Waffle' - Celtic hero slams Philippe Clement's comments

As reported by the Daily Record, while speaking to Sky, Clement said:

"Also to get a penalty against like that. Every single manager in the world gets stress out of these rules with handballs. This ball is deflected at the last split second. My defender jumps with his arm up as you need to do that to jump. He tries to put his arm away but it hits his elbow."

On the other hand, the Rangers boss felt that the spot kick his side were awarded was absolutely correct, as he added:

"It is not getting a penalty. Everybody is really clear it is a penalty. He's been kicked against his knee. So it is not getting anything. It is even a little bit pity that he is getting a yellow card first for that. In that way it is important you have VAR. That's nothing against the referee. They need to take decisions in split seconds, and it is so difficult to see everything. It is impossible to see everything that is VAR is so important to have in football."

Lennon clearly did not agree with the Rangers boss as he stated:

"Not for me. When I first saw it I thought Johnston got the ball but Silva has over-egged it. You can look at it again and think there is contact but it is absolutely minimal. I think he gets the ball first It is a big call, John has made that call. John has got the card out. I don't know if there is enough contact and they way he goes down is embarrassing. I am not happy with Philippe's comments after the game. The Goldson one is not a penalty but that one is a clear penalty? Come on. Absolute waffle."

Well, you can always expect some controversy when it comes to the Glasgow Derby. The positive thing is that the title race is still in the hands of Celtic. That would not have been the case if they had ended up losing on the day, which they thankfully did not.

The problems in this team are quite clear though. To concede three goals in the second half of such an important game is just not good enough. They could have taken back control of the title race today if they had managed to hold on for just 45 minutes, or even fewer after Adam Idah put them ahead. But they could not. Now, they have all the work to do and the final Glasgow Derby of the season. at Parkhead, could prove vital.
