Some great news has come out of Celtic recently, as Cameron Carter-Vickers has signed a contract extension with the Hoops. It is a five-and-a-half-year deal and will keep him at Parkhead until the summer of 2029. Of course, it is very possible that he could leave before that if the right offer arrives. But the Scottish champions' position has certainly been strengthened.
The news comes after Carter-Vickers had been linked with a number of Premier League clubs in recent weeks. And it looks like a return to England was not the only option he had on the table.
As tweeted by Larry Henry Jr, an unnamed Qatar club made a late enquiry to sign Carter-Vickers from Celtic in this window. However, the centre-back will remain at Parkhead.
This update was made before the contract extension was officially announced. And the length of the new deal does suggest that Carter-Vickers is not planning to leave in the immediate future.
Unnamed club made late enquiry to sign Celtic superstar
Carter-Vickers has to bring his career back on track to a certain degree. He has been dealing with constant injury problems going back to last season and has not played a lot of football for the Hoops in recent times.
Of course, when fit and available, Carter-Vickers is an automatic starter for Celtic. But he needs to make sure that he remains fit for a considerable length of time moving forward.
Carter-Vickers is an important part of this team. Many even view him as a potential club captain, if he does remain at Celtic for the long run.
He came through the ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and spent the early portion of his senior career on loan at one Championship club or another. He has finally found some stability at Celtic though and there is not much reason for him to leave anytime soon.
