Celtic's recruitment over the past couple of years has come under the microscope. Admittedly, they were fantastic in the two transfer windows of the 2021/22 season, signing players like Kyogo, Jota, Matt O'Riley, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Reo Hatate, Giorgos Giakoumakis, Josip Juranovic, Daizen Maeda and plenty more. The club failed to continue on that trajectory though.

Last season, the only two decent signings they made were Alistair Johnston and Aaron Mooy. Now, Tomoki Iwata has found a place in the team recently as well. It remains to be seen if he can hold on to it.

This season's two transfer windows have been even worse and is one of the main reasons the Rangers have been able to bridge the gap between themselves and the treble winners. One of Celtic's most confusing signings in recent times has been that of Gustaf Lagerbielke.

The Swedish centre-back was signed in the summer, while Carl Starfelt left for Celta Vigo. Lagerbielke has had his momemts at Celtic. Whether it be scoring the winner against Feyenoord in the Champions League or keeping a clean sheet at Ibrox earlier in the season. But overall, he has never fit into Brendan Rodgers' plans and it feels like bad recruitment.

Lagerbielke was expected to leave on loan in the January transfer window. But after Carter-Vickers picked up an injury around that time, it did not transpire.

Despite the Swede's lack of opportunities at Celtic, it looks like there are quite a few teams vying for his signature. As reported by Aftonbladet, in the recent episode of "Sportbladet Allsvenskan - Fråga Disco", Sportbladet's expert Daniel "Disco" Kristoffersson shared that Lagerbielke is still considered for a transfer to Italy this summer. There are mainly three clubs who are interested in the centre-back.

It would make sense for all parties involved for Lagerbielke to leave in the summer. He has barely featured in recent times. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has made 10 appearances for Celtic and played 575 minutes in total till now.
