Celtic have been more active in terms of outgoings than incomings this January so far. Yosuke Ideguchi has left the club permanently, having failed to establish himself at Parkhead. He was great while on loan at Avispa Fukuoka though and that has led to J-League champions, Vissel Kobe, signing him. There have been a few others who have departed on loan deals.

It looks one of Celtic's summer signings might end up following that path too. That player is none other than Gustaf Lagerbielke.

The Swedish centre-back was signed from IF Elfsborg in the summer for a transfer fee believed to be around £3 million. He does not seem to be an important part of Brendan Rodgers' plans though and rumours have suggested that the club are open to offers for him.

As reported by the Daily Record, Hellas Verona are the latest Italian club considering a loan move for Lagerbielke. The Swedish centre-back has been linked with moves to Genoa and Leece as well.

Lagerbielke has had some big moments in a Celtic jersey already. And a lot of fans want him to be given more chances.

That being said, it has never looked like the right fit. Lagerbielke does not seem to have the right attributes to succeed in Rodgers' team. One certainly has to question Celtic's recruitment.

The club have signed a lot of players over the past few seasons but not many have proven to be successes. Last season, Alistair Johnston and Aaron Mooy were the only two to do well. This time around, Luis Palma and Paulo Bernardo have had a positive impact so far. That is not a great rate of success by any stretch of the imagination and is an area where the Hoops need to improve.
