Tanner Tessmann exit chances boosted amid Celtic rumours
With Matt O'Riley's future at Parkhead in doubt, it is no wonder that Celtic have been linked with a number of midfielders in recent months. It looks like they have an eye on various profiles as well. As a result, Wataru Endo of Liverpool and Arne Engels of FC Augsburg have both found their names in the rumour mill these past few weeks.
Another midfielder Celtic have been linked with for a little while is Tanner Tessmann. The American international currently plays for Venezia. But his time there might be over soon.
A move to Inter Milan was believed to be close earlier this summer but that did not materialise. Rumours linking him with a move to Fiorentina led nowhere as well.
Now, it looks like he is out of the Venezia project as well, even though an exit is yet to take place. As reported by Football Scotland, the Italian club's general director Filippo Antonelli told Il Gazzettino regarding the situation of Tessmann:
"Tessmann is out of the Venezia project. It’s been a difficult week, try to understand me. I’m sorry above all for the player, for the situation he’s put himself in. At the moment, he’s out of the list of players available for (coach Eusebio) Di Francesco, but it’s his choice. It doesn’t depend on us."

Considering the circumstances, it would be a surprise if Tessmann does not end up leaving Venezia over the last few weeks of the summer transfer window. Whether that would result in a move to Celtic or not is a different story altogether.
To be honest, someone like Tessmann would not be a like-for-like replacement for O'Riley. If the Danish midfielder were to leave Celtic this summer, the club would need to bring in someone who contributes in terms of both goals and assists. Of course, that is a rare profile.
For the time being, it does not look like O'Riley is pushing for an exit despite all the speculation surrounding him. He has been starting games consistently and playing the full 90 minutes as well. The attitude and professionalism have to be admired.
