A lot of changes are expected at Celtic moving forward. The club currently find themselves in a decent position and still in the running for a Premiership and Scottish Cup double. But at the end of the day, when you take a look at the 2023/24 campaign as a whole, the Hoops have been nowhere near the mark and need to get much better.

Of course, fans are hoping that Celtic have a wonderful summer transfer window. But at the same time, changes are required at the youth levels as well.

It has been quite some time since a player came up through the academy ranks at Celtic and became a first-team starter. The last one to do so was Kieran Tierney and it has been half-a-decade since he left the club to join Arsenal.

Following Darren O’Dea's move up to pathway manager, the club are in need of a new U-18 manager. And it looks like a leading candidate has emerged for the vacant job.

Southampton boss named favourite for Celtic job

As reported by the Daily Record, Adam Asghar has emerged as a leading candidate to become Celtic's new under-18 chief. He has caught the eye of Brendan Rodgers and his staff.

Asghar is currently the U-21s coach at Southampton. Generally, people have made the journey from Celtic Park to the English club over the years. Could we see someone head in the opposite direction? Time shall tell.

Asghar has a decent bit of coaching experience and if the club end up appointing him, it has the potential to be a very good move. At the same time, he is not the only candidate for the job. Two former Celtic players, Charlie Mulgrew and Jonny Hayes, are also believed to be under consideration for the position. Let's see what happens.
