Slovan Bratislava coach offers news for Celtic game
Celtic got a win over Hearts at the weekend, to make it five out of five in the league so far this season. They have not conceded in any of those games either, a feat they last managed 118 years ago. Another positive on the day was the fact that two of their deadline day arrivals, Arne Engels and Luke McCowan, were the ones on the scoresheet. Now, the focus turns towards the Champions League.
Celtic will kick off their Champions League campaign at home this midweek. The new format has raised hopes that the Hoops could be in the mix to qualify for the next round. It has been more than a decade since they managed to get into the knockout phases of Europe's top club competition.
Their first test will be against Slovan Bratislava. Now, most Celtic fans probably would not have even heard the name of the club before the Champions League draw. But they cannot make the mistake of taking them lightly for even a second.
There are no easy games in the Champions League, even when they might seem so on paper. Slovan Bratislava are currently leading the Slovak league.
Slovan Bratislava coach offers news for Celtic game
Slovan Bratislava appear to have been handed another boost before their game against Celtic. As reported by Sport.sk, assistant coach Boris Kitka said when asked whether their manager Vladimir Weiss would make the trip to Glasgow:
"I believe so. We communicate every day, his health was not good. The point is that we have a series of difficult matches, travel... The team will need him. I believe that maybe tomorrow or Monday he will be with us."
Weiss is believed to have been dealing with the flu recently. That saw him miss Slovan Bratislava's recent game against Dunajska Streda.
But it looks like Weiss is not one to miss a trip to Celtic Park, especially for the Champions League. The manager's presence might prove to be a boost for Sporting Bratislava, as they search for a positive result in Glasgow.
