There are many areas where Celtic have struggled this season. One of them is in front of goal. The Hoops have not been great when it comes to scoring consistently. Whenever up against a resolute defence, they seem to struggle to find a breakthrough. One also has to point out the downturn in Kyogo's form since the arrival of Brendan Rodgers, replacing Ange Postecoglou.

Both managers have different styles of play. And unfortunately, Rodgers' one does not seem to fit Kyogo nearly as well as the one championed by Postecoglou during his two seasons in the Parkhead hot seat.

Oh Hyeon-gyu is the cover option up top for Celtic. He has shown flashes of quality here and there, but overall, he clearly is not ready to be the main striker for the club.

Many fans had wanted the club to sign a striker in the summer but they chose not to. And now, Anthony Joseph has shared the reason why.

Sky Sports man shares why Celtic did not sign striker

As reported by TBR Football, Joseph said while talking on The Celtic Exchange Podcast:

"Celtic almost were saying, certainly what I was being told, was that that they’re not going to be getting a striker in before the end of the window.

“And also with one source telling me that Luis Palma can also play up front. And I remember putting that out there was that it’s looking increasingly unlikely that Celtic will go back in for Kvistgaarden, they are unlikely to bring in a striker because Luis Palma can also play up front because that was what I was being told."

It is hard to remember if Palma has ever played up front for Celtic. The Honduran has mostly been used as a winger and he has been decent.

Palma has certainly been Celtic's best signing of the recent summer transfer window. He has done well, showing the ability to both score and assist. He still is missing a bit of consistency that will take his game to the next level but it is important to remember that he is still just 23 years of age and has plenty of time on his hands to improve further.

As for another striker, Celtic will need to sign one this January. Not only because of their struggles going forward but also because Kyogo and Oh could be selected for the AFC Asian Cup by their respective national teams.
