It remains to be seen whether Celtic are successful in signing Adam Idah on a permanent basis this summer from Norwich City after a fantastic half-season loan spell. But one thing is clear, the Hoops certainly want to make the move happen. After failing with a transfer offer for the Irish striker earlier in the window, they have gone back with a second bid.
Of course, Celtic did not have a buyout clause included in the loan deal. In hindsight, that has proven to be a major mistake. But then, who could have seen his run of form coming?
Idah scored 9 goals for Celtic in the second half of the season, although he largely played the role of an impact substitute. That did not stop him from scoring a fantastic goal at Ibrox or the Scottish Cup winner against the Rangers.
Idah exceeded all expectations that were set for him when he arrived on loan from Norwich City in the winter. And it is understandable why the Hoops want him back, this time on a permanent basis. The good news is, he seems to be seeking the same thing.
Sky Sports man drops Adam Idah to Celtic update after second bid
As tweeted by Anthony Joseph, Celtic are in talks with Norwich City to sign Idah. It is understood that the Hoops have come in with an improved offer which has brought the Canaries around the table to begin negotiations after they rejected a £4 million bid last month. The player wants to return to Parkhead.
Of course, Idah had an eventful pre-season. The Irish striker moving to Celtic might be the right step for all parties involved.
At the same time, Celtic have to make sure that they are able to sign Idah for a transfer fee that makes sense. At the end of the day, he is someone with less than ten goals for the Hoops and with how well Kyogo has been playing, he would have a tough time breaking into the starting XI if he were to join the club this summer.
