Sky Sports man confirms Celtic have agreed £9.5 million deal
It looks like Celtic have finally come to life after a few uneventful days in the summer transfer window for Brendan Rodgers' side. The club needed to sign a striker, or two, after having seen both Oh Hyeon-gyu and Rocco Vata depart Parkhead, leaving Kyogo Furuhashi as the only recognised centre-forward in the team.
Their number one target was always believed to be Adam Idah, who enjoyed a superb loan spell at Celtic last season. And it looks like the Hoops have succeeded in agreeing a deal for the Irish international and it is one that could set a club record.
As tweeted by Anthony Joseph, Celtic have agreed a deal worth up to £9.5 million for Idah. It’s understood that the initial fee will be £8.5 million, with £1 million worth of add-ons. Norwich City have also inserted a 15% sell-on clause into the deal.
So, Idah could go down as the most expensive signing in Celtic history. The current record is the £9 million that the Hoops had shelled out to sign Odsonne Edouard from PSG.

Most Celtic fans wanted to see the club bring back Idah on a permanent basis. But that reported transfer fee is sure to divide the opinion of many.
On one hand, Idah did a great job for Celtic last season. He scored 9 goals included the winning one in the Scottish Cup final against the Rangers.
But on the other hand, was he good enough to become Celtic's record signing? One can certainly raise doubts about that.
The fact of the matter is that the transfer market has changed a lot in recent years. It is actually a positive sign that Celtic have shown that kind of ambition to sign Idah from Norwich City.
