It would be an understatement to say that Adam Idah's loan spell at Celtic was a success. When the move was made, not many had high expectations. After all, the Irishman had an unimpressive goalscoring record at Norwich City and his numbers for the Republis of Ireland national team were not eyecatching either.

Celtic had been linked with proven goalscorers like Lawrence Shankland and Bojan Miovski. As a result, the loan move for Idah felt like a bit of a letdown.

Just some months later and the majority of Celtic fans would be delighted if Idah was signed on a permanent basis this summer. He managed to score 9 goals during his time at Parkhead, despite mostly playing the role of a cover option for Kyogo.

Idah also put his name into the Celtic history books by scoring the Scottish Cup winner in the 90th minute against the Rangers at Hampden Park. Hopefully, that is not the last we see of him in the Hoops.

As tweeted by Anthony Joseph, Celtic are keen to pursue a permanent deal for Idah. But new Norwich City boss, Johannes Hoff Thorup, plans to assess the striker in pre-season before making a decision on his future.

Of course, a lot of things are against Celtic at the moment. They did not have a buyout option included in the loan deal, meaning Norwich City have the leverage now. Also, the Canaries have a new manager, who will surely be looking to assess his squad before making any decisions.

It remains to be seen if Celtic are able to sign Idah on a permanent basis or not. If they are not, then it would go down as a major disappointment and hopefully they would be able to sign an equally good striker to take his place in the squad, if not better.
