Celtic are expected to strengthen in a number of positions over the summer. While most of the talk has been about signing a goalkeeper to take Joe Hart's place in the team, there are other areas on the pitch which could do with reinforcements. Central defence is quite certainly believed to be one of them.

Cameron Carter-Vickers is a fantastic defender and pretty much an automatic selection when available. Unfortunately, the American international has had his injury poblems in recent times.

As a result, Liam Scales was Celtic's most regular centre-back last season. But a lot of fans believe that he needs some competition for the starting spot and is not someone who should be an automatic pick like Carter-Vickers.

Celtic signed both Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke last summer but neither has impressed so far. Nat Phillips was brought in on loan from Liverpool as well but we all know how that turned out, reminding many fans of the deal for Shane Duffy a few years back.

As tweeted by Florian Plettenberg, Celtic has a concrete interest in Flavius Daniliuc. His contract with Salernitana runs until the summer of 2026.

Daniliuc had quite the high-profile academy career. He was at Real Madrid before joining Bayern Munich. He was never able to make a senior appearance for the Bundesliga giants though.

Daniliuc has still played at a pretty decent level so far. He represented Nice in Ligue 1 and Salernitana in Serie A. He has also spent time on loan at Red Bull Salzburg. He has made a few appearances for the Austrian national team too.

So, all things considered, someone like Daniliuc could be a decent addition for Celtic for sure. Now, it remains to be seen whether they can agree a deal for him.
