Roy Keane is someone who did not have an extensive career at Celtic. He had grown up supporting the Hoops and after establishing himself as an all-time legend at Manchester United, he made the move to Glasgow in the middle of the 05/06 season. He was very much in the twilight of his career at that point in time though and would end up announcing his retirement from the game after the end of that campaign.

Keane even won a couple of trophies during his time at Celtic. A fitting end to a career that had been filled with silverware.

Keane has since been linked with a return to Celtic a few times in a managerial capacity. It has never transpired though and perhaps for the best. His coaching career has not been nearly as impressive as his playing one.

Keane has enjoyed a surge in popularity in recent years though for his work as a pundit. And Celtic fans would have been happy with some of his latest comments.

Roy Keane makes blunt Celtic claim to Gary Neville

As reported by Celts Are Here, while speaking on an episode of the “Stick to Football” podcast, Neville said that Rangers had the best atmosphere, to which Keane replied:

"Celtic’s is a better atmosphere though."

It is unsurprising that Keane went on to back his former side and the club he grew up supporting. It would have been a surprise if he had not.

Of course, Celtic Park has one of the most famous and heralded atmospheres in world football. It has been praised by players like Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Kaka, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric and many other all-time legends of the game over the years.

Unfortunately, Celtic have not been able to use that atmosphere to get big wins in Europe in recent years. The one over Feyenoord was a step in the right direction.
