Celtic recently parted ways with Liel Abada, with the winger joining Charlotte FC in a deal believed to be worth north of £10 million. While the exit was untimely, it made a ton of sense considering the circumstances that the player had found himself in at Parkhead. And recently, rumours broke out about another player leaving in an out-of-window move.

The player in question is none other than Yuki Kobayashi. The centre-back was signed last year while Ange Postecoglou was still the manager of Celtic but has not made a single appearance since the appointment of Brendan Rodgers in the summer.

Thus, Kobayashi leaving would make perfect sense for both the club and the player. And recently, reports broke out in Japan that he was set to join Kashima Antlers on a six-month loan deal.

It looks like the rumours are wide of the mark though. As reported by Football Scotland, Kobayashi has not agreed to any return to the J League despite recent reports. Celtic would prefer to keep the player right now despite no indication that he will be involved any time soon.

It is confusing as to why Celtic would prefer to keep Kobayashi instead of finding him a new home. The Japanese centre-back has not managed to get into the team this season, despite the number of injuries the club have had to deal with in defence.

In fact, he has barely even made the bench. So, there is little to no chance that he will be appearing for Celtic before the end of the season.

Kobayashi could have benefited from a loan spell away from Celtic but that does not seem to be on the cards. But despite this, it is unlikely that Celtic have any long-term plans for him.
