A lot will be riding on the result of the upcoming Glasgow Derby between Celtic and the Rangers. This is the closest title race we have had in years and the Parkhead meeting between the two could have major implications on where the league trophy ends up come the end of the season. Brendan Rodgers' side will have the home advantage on the day but it is important that they make it count. Otherwise, a dream scenario could turn into an absolute nightmare.

Both teams won this weekend. Celtic got a mostly comfortable 3-0 win against Hearts. On the other hand, the Rangers were losing to Kilmarnock until the visitors had a player sent off. They did make the advantage count and ultimately won 4-1. Thus, the goal difference remained unchanged.

There is some bad news for the Rangers ahead of the Glasgow Derby though. Connor Goldson has suffered an injury in training and will be out for the rest of the campaign.

The news was confirmed by Rangers manager Philippe Clement. As reported by The Scotsman, he said about the situation of Goldson:

"There was a duel on Wednesday at training and a player fell on Connor’s knee and he hurt his knee badly.

“He tried to continue but couldn’t. He had a scan and he has a tear in his medial ligament so he will be out for the rest of the season."

Goldson has been a regular for the Rangers in the heart of defence this season. Hopefully, Celtic will make the most of his absence next weekend.

At the same time, Celtic cannot afford to spent too much time thinking about who will be available for the Rangers and who will not be. The focus has to be on themselves, getting prepared as best as possible and putting in a good peformance next weekend.

On top of their day, this Celtic team is good enough to get a positive result against the Rangers, especially at home. Let's hope they bring their A-game next weekend and get a win.
