It would be safe to say that the mood around Ibrox is not great at the moment after having seen the Rangers completely outplayed in the Glasgow Derby last weekend, as Celtic registered a comfortable 3-0 victory. On another day, the margin could have been even bigger. Philippe Clement can talk about shots on target but it was a one-sided contest at the end of the day.

One Rangers player who did not have a great game is James Tavernier. The club captain and Hall of Famer has been on the receiving end of quite a bit of criticism this week and now, it looks like an Ibrox exit route has emerged for him as well, despite the Scottish transfer window closing a week ago.

That is because transfer windows in some other leagues are still open. And quite a few clubs are seemingly interested in signing Tavernier.

As reported by HITC, a number of clubs are ready to make a move for the Rangers captain. Istanbul Basaksehir are the latest club to show an interest in Tavernier. Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have also had conversations about a deal. Besiktas have also been keeping tabs on the situation. In Qatar, Al-Arabi and Al-Gharafa are both showing an interest.

Of course, some fans might argue that Tavernier leaving would be a blow for Celtic as well. And considering his performances in recent Glasgow derbies, there is a discussion to be had on that topic.

One cannot deny though that Tavernier has been a reliable source of goals for the Rangers in recent times. If he were to leave the club, now or in the winter, they would have a tough time replacing him.

Let's see how things play out in the Tavernier transfer saga. The uncertainty could be another advantage for Celtic in the Premiership title race.
