Rangers fans meltdown at Brendan Rodgers' joke after Celtic win
It would be safe to say that Brendan Rodgers was a happy customer coming out of Celtic's opening Champions League game of the season. The Hoops got themselves a 5-1 win at Parkhead against Slovan Bratislava. A result that not even the most optimistic fans would have seen coming despite going into the match as 'favourites'.
It was a fine display from the Hoops, to say the least. They had five different goalscorers and could have easily been more if their finishing was a bit more clinical. It is not often that you get to say that about Celtic at the Champions League level.
The result leaves them in a great position in the league phase. Of course, it is just the first game, and it is important not to get ahead of themselves.
Of course, Rodgers recognises that. And he was in the mood for a few jokes after the game. The Celtic boss told reporters:
"The competition stops now, we play Bayern Munich in the final!"

Admittedly, it looked like a tough crowd. There was not much in the name of the laughter after Rodgers' joke. But it would be safe to say that the reaction of many Rangers fans on social media was over the top.
Many of them took it upon themselves to point out in the comments that nobody was laughing. On the other hand, it looks like a few were under the impression that the Celtic boss was being serious and decided to downplay the level of opposition that Slovan Bratislava are.
Well, let's point out another thing since we are here already. Slovan Bratislava made it past the qualifying phase to make it to the Champions League this season. On the other hand, the Rangers failed to do the same. Just saying, in case anybody has forgotten about it.
