Rangers fans had their fun this week. Well, that was until their side took to the pitch. Merely days after trolling Celtic for losing 7-1 against last season's Champions League finalists, Borussia Dortmund, away at Signal Iduna Park, the Ibrox supporters saw their team lose 4-1 at home to Lyon. It is worth pointing out that the French side sit 11th in Ligue 1 right now.

It has not been much better for the Rangers in domestic competition. They are five points behind Celtic and Aberdeen in the league.

Most of the games that they have won have not been convincing either. All things considered, the Rangers are not a side in form at the moment.

Philippe Clement had his fair share of fans at Ibrox not too long ago. But by now, it looks like most of them have given up on the idea of it working out for the Belgian manager.

A caller on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard believes that Giovanni van Bronckhorst had gotten a better tune out of this team and admitted that he would take back Steven Gerrard. He said:

"I just don't think Clement is the man, Van Bronckhorst got a better tune out of players. Van Bronckhorst had a better side. I would take Steven Gerrard back tomorrow."

Giovanni van Bronckhorst certainly did a better job as Rangers manager than Clement has so far. He guided them to the Europa League final. Steven Gerrard might have won only one trophy in more than three seasons at Ibrox but it was a big one. Even Mick Beale won a Glasgow Derby.

Clement might have signed a long-term contract extension very recently. But if things don't start to improve for the Rangers very soon and they don't start cutting the gap between themselves and Celtic, then it might only be a matter of time before he is shown the exit door by the club. That is life as a manager in Glasgow.
