Celtic are set to be busy in the summer transfer window. At least that is the expectation that has been set after what was a shaky 23/24 campaign from the Hoops, even though it saw them win a Premiership and Scottish Cup double. There is plenty of room for improvement in Brendan Rodgers' side, as they look to continue winning silverware domestically while getting better at the Champions League level.

One of the players that Celtic have been linked with in recent weeks is Flavius Daniliuc. The centre-back is currently away at EURO 24 as part of the Austrian national team.

Daniliuc is currently a Salernitana player although he did spend time on loan at RB Salzburg recently. It remains to be seen what the future holds for him and whether a move to Glasgow is on the cards or not.

Rangers fan media appears to have been left disappointed with Celtic's rumoured pursuit of the defender though. Ibrox Noise wrote:

"Rangers have (disappointingly) more or less dropped the club’s pursuit of Austrian defender Flavius Daniliuc after Celtic did indeed make their move upon the Salernitana defender, on loan at Salzburg.

The story originally surfaced after Austrian press corrected a false report suggesting Celtic had approached the Italians about his signature, when it was Rangers making the move, but unfortunately, naturally, Celtic immediately got involved and have completely overtaken Rangers in the queue.

We are not sure quite how serious Rangers’ interest in the 23-year-old defender was, but Ibrox Noise very much endorsed that target and believed him to be much more a Rangers-level defender."

Daniliuc certainly has quite a bit of pedigree under his belt. He spent a few years as part of the youth ranks at Real Madrid before joining Bayern Munich's academy.

He was never able to break into the first-team picture at Bayern Munich. But he did make the move to Nice, whom he represented at Ligue 1 level.

That was followed by a switch to Salernitana, who were in Serie A at that point in time. And he has also spent time on loan at RB Salzburg. He has also made a few appearances for the Austria national team.

Thus, it is safe to say that Daniliuc has experienced a few different styles of football already even though he is still just 23 years of age. Could Scotland be his next stop? Time shall tell.
