It would be safe to say that most Celtic fans would be delighted if the club ended up signing Adam Idah on a permanent basis from Norwich City this summer. It is funny how quickly opinions can change in football because the majority, us included, viewed the decision to sign the Irish striker on loan in the winter as a move lacking ambition.

Firstly, because it was a loan deal with no buyout clause included in it. And that has indeed proven to be a problem. Secondly, because Idah's goal record at Norwich City was not impressive at all and at that point, Celtic needed someone who could find the back of the net consistently.

Idah certainly proved a lot of critics wrong with his performances for Celtic. In the second half of the season, he scored nine goals despite mostly playing in the role of an impact substitute.

He scored plenty of important goals as well. The last of them being the winner in the final of the Scottish Cup against the Rangers. It does not get better than that. The hope is that we will get to see him in a Celtic shirt once again in the near future.

Idah is now back at Norwich City, following the end of his loan spell at Parkhead. Celtic are believed to be trying to sign the Irishman on a permanent basis though.

Interestingly, Idah was not included in the squad for Norwich City's pre-season opener:

Of course, this is just the start of pre-season. It is very possible that Idah is not fit enough to playing games yet. So, one should not read too much into his absence in this game. But if he continues to be left out of the squad in upcoming matches, then there might be cause for optimism for Celtic fans.
