Motherwell team news

Motherwell midfielder Callum Slattery will not be available for this one as he nurses a serious knee injury. He is ruled out for the season, as confirmed by the official club website.

There is some good news for the home team, though. As per the BBC, Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell hopes to have Andy Halliday back to face Celtic this weekend, after he picked up a calf injury which is thought to be nothing serious.

Celtic team news

The biggest boost for Brendan Rodgers heading into this Scottish Premiership clash is that Cameron Carter-Vickers is back in training. The defender has returned from his injury and thought to be in conention for this match. However, Rodgers is likely to be cautious about over-using him too soon after his injury. Great news, nonetheless.

Alistair Johnston has been injured for Celtic with a head injury. Last weekend, Brendan Rodgers said it could be anywhere between a week and 10 days before he returns, so there is a possibility he is available for this one. Since he's not yet trained, though, we would expect him to be rested for the trip to Motherwell, even if only precautionary.

Reo Hatate is another player who is set to miss this match for Celtic. The midfielder is closing in on a return, but it's not likely to be this weekend. He is more likely to be back in action next month.

Motherwell vs Celtic prediction

Celtic usually have a good time against Motherwell and I cannot see this game being any different. The Hoops shouldn't underestimate their opposition, who are in great form at home but Brendan Rodgers' side cannot afford anything less than three points in this match. That said, I will go with Motherwell 1-3 Celtic.
