Celtic have been linked with a long list of players in recent times but very few of those rumours have led to anywhere concrete. The only signing that the club have made this month is bringing in Nicolas Kuhn from Rapid Vienna for a reported £3 million transfer fee. And it remains to be seen how that move works out.

Most fans would have wanted to see a new goalkeeper, left-back and striker being brought in this month. But with merely days left in the January transfer window, it is hard to see many if any signings behind made between now and February.

One midfielder has been heavily linked with Celtic for a while as well and at one point, a move had seemed only a matter of time. But now, things appear to have taken an unexpected turn.

As reported by the Daily Record, when asked about the transfer to Celtic by Korean outlet Jeonnam Ilbo, Gwangju FC's Jung Ho-Yeon said:

"I haven’t heard anything about a transfer to Celtic. My dream of challenging overseas is ongoing."

Thus, it looks like a move to Celtic is not on the cards for Jung. At least not in the immediate future judging by his comments.

To be honest, Celtic do not have the best recent record when it comes to signing players from the K-League. Oh Hyeon-gyu has shown flashes of quality from time to time but is nowhere near being a regular starter yet, even though Kyogo is not having a great season.

On the other hand, Kwon Hyeok-kyu was sent out on loan to St Mirren this month, after failing to make a single appearance for Celtic since arriving in the summer. And while Yang Hyun-jun has gotten some chances to feature, he looks like someone who needs to improve a lot if he is to be a regular.
