Celtic must have impressed a lot of people with their 5-1 win over Slovan Bratislava in their Champions League opener. The Hoops had five different goalscorers on the day, with Liam Scales, Kyogo, Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda and Adam Idah getting on the scoresheet. On another day, they could have scored even more. And the result leaves them sitting second in the competition's new-look points table, behind only Bayern Munich, who won 9-2 against Dinamo Zagreb.

In the first half, Celtic missed a ton of chances, as it looks like they were dealing with the same issue as previous seasons. An inability to put games to bed.

That changed in the second half. Kyogo, who himself had missed a couple of good chances in the first 45 minutes, quickly found the second and Celtic did not look back after that.

Micah Richards might not have reached his potential on the pitch but he is certainly finding a lot of success as a media personality. And he was full of praise for Kyogo.

Micah Richards raves about Celtic superstar in Champions League win

As reported by 67 Hail Hail, Richards told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (18/09/24 at 10:25 pm):

"After one goal, soon came another.

“Kyogo Furuhashi, what a player he has been for Celtic. At the right place at the right time. Cooly finishes it off.

“At this stage, they were looking very confident – and then number five was Idah. Lovely through ball and it’s cooly slipped home. Look at that, flying past the goalkeeper, no chance. 5-1.

“With the format, it gives Celtic a chance, doesn’t it?"

Kyogo has certainly been a tremendous player for Celtic since joining the club. Not only has he scored a ton of goals, but also proven to be someone who rises to the occasion.

Just earlier this month, he scored a fantastic goal against the Rangers. One of his many in the Glasgow Derby. Last season, he found the back of the net on two occasions, including against Atletico Madrid. And in this campaign, he has started right where he left off.

There have been some rumours about a potential move to Manchester City recently. Hopefully, Kyogo will remain at Celtic for years to come and establish himself as a club legend, if he is not one already.
