It is no secret that Celtic need to sign a goalkeeper, or perhaps even more, this summer. After three seasons as the club's first-choice between the posts, Joe Hart will be retiring at the end of this campaign, bringing an end to his illustrious career. On the other hand, Benjamin Siegrist's long-term future at Parkhead is in doubt as well, as he has barely featured since moving to Glasgow in 2022.

Scott Bain, who is the current cover option for Hart in goal, is not believed to be good enough to be a starter for Celtic. So, the club will need to sign a first-choice goalkeeper in the summer.

Celtic have been linked with a few top-quality goalkeepers in recent times. One of them is Ugurcan Cakir, the Trabzonspor captain and the Turkish national team goalkeeper.

There have been suggestions that the Hoops are willing to shell out a £7.5 million transfer fee to sign him. Interestingly, Manchester United might hold the key to any move taking place.

As reported by InternetHaber, it was stated that Trabzonspor decided to part ways with Ugurcan Cakir in the new season and met with Altay Bayindir. It was claimed that they reached an agreement.

Bayindir joined Manchester United from Fenerbahce in the summer for a transfer fee believed to be around €5 million. But he has not been able to make a mark on Erik ten Hag's team and has only made one appearance for them so far.

So, it is believed that the goalkeeper could be eyeing a return to Turkey. If Cakir does end up leaving Trabzonspor, then it might prove to be the perfect landing spot for him. It remains to be seen how things play out, but Celtic fans should be keeping an eye on this situation.
