Celtic are expected to be busy this summer but so far, they have not made a signing. On the other hand, there are plenty who have headed for the exit door. Of course, some patience is needed in order to make sure that the club bring the right players in. And one of them has to be a top-class goalkeeper.

Joe Hart retired at the end of last season, having won seven trophies during his stint with Celtic, including three-straight league titles. He had been the club's number one between the posts for the previous three seasons.

Replacing Hart will not be an easy task. Not only do Celtic need a good goalkeeper but also someone with experience and leadership qualities.

One player the club have been linked with in recent times is Martin Dubravka. His future at Newcastle United is in doubt and could that lead to a move to Celtic this summer?

Lubo Moravcik appears to believe that Dubravka can succeed at Celtic. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he said to The Sunday Post [07/07 print edition]:

"If this is a possibility, I have absolutely no doubts that Martin has the qualities required to play for Celtic. He is in his mid-thirties and has great experience from playing in the English Premier League and for his country.

“I was in Germany at the Euros to support my country and Martin was brilliant. He is tall, makes important saves and is comfortable with right foot and left foot. He makes good judgments on the park and gives the team proper security.

“I also believe Martin would have no problem coping with the pressure of playing for Celtic. We are talking about a highly experienced professional. The chance to play for Celtic against Rangers and in the Champions League would be something that Martin would embrace and accept the challenge.

“If he wants to ask me about what it is like to play for Celtic then I would recommend it to him. I had four brilliant and memorable years at Celtic and it would be lovely to see another Slovakian play for the club."

Dubravka certainly ticks a lot of the boxes that Celtic should be looking for when it comes to signing Hart's replacement this summer. The 35-year-old has plenty of experience at both club and international level.

He continues to perform at a high level as well. Dubravka impressed while representing Slovakia at EURO 2024.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the veteran goalkeeper. But it does not look like he has a future at Newcastle United. Of course, Celtic fans might not be happy with signing a 35-year-old to replace Hart, but he might very well be the best option around to fill that role next season.
