Celtic have been linked with a few Liverpool players in recent times. Of course, they signed Nat Phillip on a half-season loan deal in the summer, a move that did not prove fruitful and he has departed Parkhead since then. On the other hand, a potential move for Owen Beck was touted this month as well before he ended up making an appearance for Jurgen Klopp's side.

Another Liverpool player Celtic have been linked with for quite some time is Caoimhin Kelleher. But it looks like any move for the goalkeeper would be very unlikely.

As reported by the Daily Mail (via 90min), Nottingham Forest submitted a transfer bid of £15m for Kelleher. That offer has been swiftly rejected by Liverpool.

There have been suggestions that Liverpool would want a £20 million-plus fee to part ways with Kelleher. It goes without saying that it is very hard to imagine Celtic coming even close to that figure.

Celtic's current transfer record stands at the £9 million fee they were believed to have shelled out to sign Odsonne Edouard from Paris Saint-Germain. The club seem most comfortable when it comes to signing highly-rated 'project' players for fees in the range of £1 million to £3 million.

So, it is almost impossible that the club would consider making a bid of that magnitude to sign Kelleher from Liverpool. His current deal is believed to run until the summer of 2026 as well.

So, if any Celtic fan has been hoping for the club to sign Kelleher next summer, they might as well just forget about it. Unless something changes drastically, either at Parkhead or at Anfield, that move is not going to happen. Even if the Republic of Ireland international leaves, it is much more likely that he will remain in the Premier League.
