Celtic need to sign a goalkeeper or two this summer following the retirement of Joe Hart at the end of last season. Benjamin Siegrist is also expected to leave following two underwhelming campaigns at Parkhead during which he barely featured. And for many, Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool would be the dream signing in this transfer window.

Kelleher is believed to be looking to leave Liverpool in search of a starting spot elsewhere. And the Irish international has been linked with a switch to Celtic on numerous occasions over the last months.

Someone like Kelleher has the potential to be a great signing for Celtic. But unfortunately, looking at Liverpool's rumoured transfer valuation of their second-choice goalkeeper, any move for him does not seem realistic.

As reported by The Athletic, Liverpool are aware of Kellher's desire to be a number one. But the Premier League club will only consider offers of £25 million and above because there are few better backup goalkeepers in Europe.

There is pretty much zero chance that Celtic are going to make a move of that magnitude for Kelleher or anyone for that matter. The club's current transfer record is the £9 million fee they shelled out to sign Odsonne Edouard.

So, if any Celtic fans are hoping for the club to sign Kelleher, it might be time to say goodbye to those hopes. It simply is not going to happen.

Of course, there are other goalkeeper options available who could prove to be good signings for the club. The Hoops have been linked with at least a dozen or so just over the past few weeks. It remains to be seen who they ultimately end up bringing in this summer. One can only hope that they get the recruitment right this time around.
