Celtic need to sign a long-term goalkeeper sooner or later. Joe Hart has been the club's number one since joining in 2021 from Tottenham Hotspur. His performances have received quite a bit of criticism in recent times and at 36 years of age, he is not going to hold the first-team gloves for much longer. This could very well be his last season at Parkhead, with his contract running out in the summer.

Celtic have been linked with quite a few goalkeepers lately. Andriy Lunin was perhaps the most high-profile of them. He was expected to leave Real Madrid in the summer but his situation has improved since then, as it looks like he has moved ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga in the pecking order. Thus, the 24-year-old might end up staying at Santiago Bernabeu.

Another goalkeeper who is believed to have been on Celtic's radar for a long time is Caoimhin Kelleher of Liverpool. He has been the cover option to Alisson for years now and might be looking for a starting role at this stage of his career.

Liverpool make Kelleher decision amid Celtic links

As reported by Football Insider, Liverpool are not willing to part ways with Kelleher in the January transfer window. He is seen as important to the squad by Jurgen Klopp.

Kelleher has been Liverpool's cup goalkeeper this season and has been getting more chances than usual. That being said, Alisson is 31 years of age and it is hard to see the Republic of Ireland international moving ahead of him in the pecking order anytime soon.

Thus, it is possible that Kelleher could end up leaving Liverpool next summer. It is expected to take a significant transfer fee to sign the Republic of Ireland international though, which might make any move to Celtic Park unlikely.
